Make it to tomorrow

Heartwork

I’ve drank myself to sleep enough times to know
The sadness that hides in your eyes
The wear on your face from the will that it takes
Just to get up and try

Well I happen to believe you just might be
The reason somebody sees 23
So just wake up and put on your shoes
Call that a win for a week or two

My dad always says, “One step at a time
Still gets the mountain; you just have to climb”

Child, hold the walls back for one more day
If you can make it to tomorrow
I swear, you’ll be okay

I’ve shattered my own dreams enough times to feel
The failures that lie to your soul
Oh, the disgrace you’ve tried to replace
But, only grown farther from home

Well I happen to believe you just might be
The hero that one story’s missing
So just wake up and put on your shoes
Call that a win for a week or two

My mom always says, “It’s okay to cry
tears on your face just means you’re alive”

Child hold the walls back for one more day
If you can make it to tomorrow, I swear, you’ll be okay

I’m still haunted by the nights that I die in my dreams
helpless as my family buries me
And I’ve learned that empty bottles
Can still make you bleed
But, I’ll be damned if I leave this life with a wasted legacy

Oh just wake up and put on your shoes
Call that a win for a week or two
It might take a while for the mirror to change
But someday your smile’s gonna outgrow this pain

Child hold the walls back for one more day
If you can make it to tomorrow, I swear, you’ll be okay

The love I receive, I don’t deserve
So I’ll try to give it back, til I’m inside this earth

Don’t let the world wash you away
Please stick around for one more day
If you can make it to tomorrow, I swear, you’ll be okay.
